Web Standards Auditor is designed to run website checks locally in your Chrome browser. The extension does not sell personal data and does not transmit scanned page content to Agate Business Consulting or third-party analytics services.
1. Product Scope
Web Standards Auditor is a Chrome extension that helps users review web pages for accessibility, SEO, performance, security, privacy, and related standards signals. The extension scans the active page when the user starts a scan and displays results in the extension popup and generated reports.
2. Information Processed by the Extension
The extension may process the following information locally in the browser:
- The URL of the active web page being scanned.
- DOM-level page information required to identify website issues, such as headings, links, images, forms, metadata, scripts, styles, and visible text properties.
- Generated audit results, including category scores, issue titles, issue descriptions, affected elements, and timestamps.
- User-generated exports such as JSON or PDF reports.
3. Local Storage
Scan results may be stored using Chrome local storage so that the latest report can be viewed or exported after a scan. This information remains in the user's browser profile unless the user clears extension data, removes the extension, or uses browser controls to clear stored data.
4. Data Transmission
The extension does not send scanned page content, audit reports, browsing history, or generated reports to Agate Business Consulting servers. The extension does not use remote tracking scripts or third-party analytics inside the extension.
5. Permissions
The extension may request Chrome permissions such as:
- activeTab - to scan the current tab after user action.
- scripting - to inject the local scanner into the active page when the user runs a scan.
- storage - to store the latest scan results locally.
- downloads - to export reports as downloadable files.
- notifications - to show scan completion messages, if used.
6. Report Exports
Exported JSON and PDF files are created on the user's device. Once downloaded, the files are controlled by the user and may contain page URLs and issue details from the scanned website.
7. Third-Party Services
The extension does not rely on third-party analytics or advertising services. Links to Agate Business Consulting websites may open in a browser tab only when the user clicks those links.
8. Security
The extension avoids remote executable code and uses packaged extension files for its functionality. Users should review generated reports before sharing them because reports may include page URLs, page structure, or snippets from the scanned page.
9. Children’s Privacy
Web Standards Auditor is intended for business, developer, and website review use. It is not directed to children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the extension changes. The latest policy included with the extension applies to the installed version.
